Mischa Barton (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0059215/) was placed on involuntary psychiatric hold after calling cops to her Hollywood home on Wednesday night, according to U.S. reports.
The actress was taken to a mystery location by officers who "assisted her with a medical issue", a Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson has confirmed.
Her representative Craig Schneider tells People.com, "Police were involved due to Ms. Barton's celebrity status, to safely transfer her to medical treatment as per doctor's orders. (She's) Ok and resting."
Now Access Hollywood (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0167515/) is alleging L.A.P.D. officers placed Barton under a 5150 hold, reserved for individuals who present a danger to themselves or others, are gravely disabled or suffer from a mental disorder.
Britney Spears (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0005453/) was subjected to the same hold after her meltdown back in January 2008.
As a result of Barton's health issue, she has cancelled her appearance at the premiere of her new movie Homecoming (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1135500/).
Producer Austin Stark (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0823133/) has confirmed Barton will be absent from the red carpet screening in Tinseltown on Thursday, explaining, "There were some medical problems. She's not able to travel, as far as I know."

http://ia.media-imdb.com/images/M/MV5BOTIyNzYyMTA1MF5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTcwMDE4NjgyMQ@@._ V1._SY90_.jpg Troubled actress Mischa Barton (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0059215/) has made her first public appearance since she was placed on an involuntary psychiatric hold at a Los Angeles hospital earlier this month.
The former The O.C. (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0362359/) star was placed under the care of doctors at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center after reportedly suffering a meltdown and calling cops to her Hollywood home.
She was released over the weekend (25-26Jul09) after a week of treatment, with her representative insisting the 23 year old is preparing to get back to work.
And now the star has proved she is ready to move on from the incident.
Barton was pictured looking happy and healthy as she smiled and waved to photographers outside L.A.'s Lax Airport on Tuesday before catching a flight to New York, where she is due to begin filming new her TV show The Beautiful Life (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1400580/).
Shooting on the programme, created by Ashton Kutcher (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0005110/), was initially reported to have been delayed by Barton's hospitalisation, but bosses at The CW network insisted the hold-up was the result of unfinished sets.
Barton, 23, is set to play Sonja Stone, a catwalk beauty addicted to pills, on new show, which is tentatively scheduled to start filming on 31 July.
