What do you guys/gals like better? The pictures being hosted in the forums here? Or how they are in the www part of the site, examples:

- www site version (http://www.zodcaps.com/otherpix1/a/arielle_kebbel/index.html)

- forum version (http://forum.zodcaps.com/showthread.php?t=3229)

The *big* benefits of having them here in the forum, is they're easier to categorize, move around, have stats on, etc.. for me. And for people who visit the site often, they can simply join the forum, click "new posts" along the top menu bar, and everything new since their last visit will be shown. So you don't have to remember what pictures you've downloaded and what ones you haven't.

Please vote!

I'm not sure how this applies but as soon as the format changed and forum postings became more numerous there began this use of imagevenue as a means to view them. When I want to see a certain posted image it asks me to click on and agree to imagevenue rules. Of course, I don't and therefore can't view the image properly. Perhaps the person posting the pics gets a comission of some kind for every click but this wasn't how we all enjoyed this site. Now I want to post my own pics and vidcaps but I'm a bit disgruntled.

Don't know if this makes sense to anyone else, but there it is.

You can post your own pics/vidcaps - just post a new thread and use the "Add/Edit Attachments" link below the text box. This will send them directly HERE and not to a 3rd party host. Note: you must use Internet Explorer if you want to use the uploader program (flash and Firefox don't agree with each other)

re: image hosts

imagevenue is the largest image sharing host in the world (it used to be ImageShack but ImageVenue is FAR bigger now) and I've never had any problems viewing pictures with it. ( ?? ) I'm guessing from the millions of others that use it every hour, nobody else has had any problems.

People don't get money for hosting their pictures with ImageVenue - imagevenue displays ads on above the photos, so the user gets a free image host, and the host gets revenue from the ads.

There's lots of free image hosts though.. imageshack.com, imagebam.com, etc, etc..

What is your issue with ImageVenue's rules? Personally I think they're a lot more lenient and less restrictive than that of most websites (probably including this one). On the assumption that you haven't read them, here they are:

Terms and Agreements for ImageVenue.com:

* ImageVenue reserves the right to remove any digital content that compromises
security of our dedicated servers or use excessive bandwidth.

* All files are © to their respective owners. Though ImageVenue staff continously and vigilantly monitors the types of images uploaded to its servers, ImageVenue is not responsible for the content of any uploaded files, nor is it in affiliation with any entities that may be represented in the uploaded files.

You agree not to use Imagevenue Service to:

* Upload child pornography. Uploaders' as well as all the viewers' IP addresses will be reported to the proper authorities such as the FBI and Interpol. With this information, these two agencies will be able to find and arrest the user in regard to the above-mentioned abuse.

* Upload images that infringe on the copyrights of any entity. This includes, but is not limited to, copyrighted photographs, as well as files for which user lacks usage and distribution permissions. An abuse of copyright law will result in immediate ban of abuser's IP from using Imagevenue service.

* Upload or make available any Content that spreads messages of terror or depicts torture or death-images; if serious enough, the content will be reported to the appropriate legal authority and/or the member's ISP will be contacted

As for why I use them, its largely as Zodiac says. They are free, both for me to upload to and for those who want to view what I post; one upload can be used on almost any forum on the net; their ads are a lot less intrusive than a lot of other file hosts; and they are easy to use. There are programs available that will upload large queues of image files to them and other programs that will likewise download from them.

Thanks for the instructions Zodiac - I'll try this out.
As for Imagevenue, I guess I just have a problem with anything that asks me to agree to something just to look at a photo - too many traps out there and I've been nailed before just for clicking on something (who hasn't). But if you say there's nothing negative about the site then I'll give it a shot.

Thanks again,

Dmac

Do you remember what photo(s) it was? I don't ever remember ImageVenue for asking me to agree to anything. Once in awhile it'll have a delay before you can view the image, but I can't remember any user agreement to view them on that host

Yah it's probably the best host out there. It's fast, and best of all, images that are uploaded to it seem to last quite awhile without being deleted (unlike many if not MOST of the other hosts, where people will post a thread and the links all go dead within a month)

Cheers

This is what he's talking about: http://img17.imagevenue.com/loc576/th_61938_IV-TOS_122_576lo.jpg (http://img17.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=61938_IV-TOS_122_576lo.jpg)

The first time you click on an ImageVenue link each day? session? you get this. Click "yes" and you're good for some time. Don't know how long since I usually use downloaders.

WEIRD! I have *never* had that pop-up. Sometimes there's a daily delay that counts down in seconds from like 4 to 0, but I've never had a TOS agreement popup.
